Great site. Very informative & interesting. The International Veterans' Association (IVA) is a social group for military veterans from all nations, regardless of race, creed or gender. No politics, no racism, just some folk with common experiences keeping in touch, keeping track of old comrades, networking with other veterans around the world, etc. Interested? A great site. The information on current unit profiles is very interesting. I did notice that the US Marine Raiders are missing in the associations and history sections. Certainly the Raiders distinguished themselves at Makin Island by capturing the first Japanese Flag of WW2 and by holding some bloody territory on Guadalcanal. The Raider push up the Tenaru River under Col. Evans Carlson is a remarkable feat. The Raiders were the first to use "SpecOps" weaponry, boots and tactics in WW2. In addition the Raiders were the first to use Navajo code talkers. This may be a group you wish to look up while there are quite a few left to tell the tale.

my name is jennifer. you *might* be acquainted with my younger brother, alan (of "al's firearms website" renown). alan is SIXTEEN. despite my stalwart efforts to get him interested in something WHOLESOME (like marijuana or hard liquor) he persists in his foolish preoccupation with firearms, knives, paintball guns, camo, and the like. in other words, he is fast becoming a dyed-in-the-wool militia member (of the women-in-the-kitchen variety). YOU are only encouraging him. the motive behind this e-mail, is, of course, that you will read it & forward it to him, thereby embarassing his young, adolescent self to the point that he will come to my dorm room and shoot me for the affront. consequently, because of my gallant self-sacrifice, alan will soon be serving hard prison time instead of shooing old ladies on fine sunday mornings. thanks for your cooperation.

This site is really amazing. It's got everything, and I mean everything. Recently I was browsing through the list of foreign units and I noticed that there was an entry on Malta. Perhaps I should explain that I come from Malta. Since Malta is a tiny island in the Med and has only a microscopic military capability, I never thought I would find information about our Armed Forces Special Operations groups. But by Jove I did! It was really great. And since you asked for any info, I must tell you that the 1st Regiment, C Rifle Company is considered the Maltese elite unit. I'm sorry, but I don't have any pictures or particular information myself. Just keep up the good work!

You did a really good job with the South Korean military units. I am an American, but I still keep in contact with my relatives in Korea. My uncle served in the Republic of Korea Marine Corps. He was also airborne and diver trained. Thank you for letting me understand better the type of work he did. Of course, I may be a bit prejudiced because I'm Korean, but I believe that the ROK military is the toughest of all the Asian nations.

Thanks for the piece on TACPs. Normally, whenever anything is written about us, it's either too cheesed up (mostly self inlicted I admit) or we've been undercut by our brothers in related career fields. There is an addition. We also support SF and SOAR on a permanent basis. We provide the same support to SOF as we do to conventional units. If you'd like any additional information, it can be found on the "SOF TACP unofficial web site". Thanks

To whom it may concern,
My name is Jorge Vega, currently in the United States Marine Corps...serving my country proud! I'm stationed in Camp Pendleton, CA. I'm currently on my way to MSG School in Quantico, VA. My dream and goal in life is to pursue a career in a Special operations group. I would like to know what could I do to prepare my self to become one of the elite. My goal is, once I'm done with my tour as a Marine Security Guard, I want to go back to my home town... Miami, and start my career as a Special Response Team Member. I know I still have to do my time as a patrol officer but I'm willing to do what ever it takes. I want to learn the ropes.
If anyone can help me with this matter..please do. Thank you.

Im glad there are people like the men and women who sacrifice their life to keep us protected.I want to be one of those people,to keep others protected from terrorism. These people aren't ordinary people, their special people, willing to give their life for our well being. If I ever make my dream of being a U.S. Navy SEAL.I hope someone will write something like what I wrote when the men and women serving in the Armed Forces' children are in the Armed Forces.I give kids credit for aiming at a goal to do something great for other peoples lives, some people they don't even know. And teens and young adults I give credit because they can continue on in protecting our country. So it stays free of people who think about killng other people just because the don't like them. The men and women in the Military kill to protect the people that would have been killed. The people who would have killed innocent people obviously have a death wish, because they might not realize what their doing is wrong. And Im sure that the terrorists or terrorist or assain usualy know that 99% of the time, that there is a chance that they could be killed, for doing the wrong thing. If there weren't people like the men and women today in the Armed Forces, I don't think I would have been able to write this piece.I think all of America, would be in hell.

What a wonderful site! An ardent reader over the past one year. No single day has since passed without looking for something new with this site. As an active journalist with a wire service in Korea, I have on occasion recommended to my buddies to refer to this site whenever questions on special operations come up. Also an author on special operations and covert warriors worldwide, I would like to appreciate Tom for his ardent endeavor for getting the international readership to gain an access to facts unknown to them thus far. Remember, Tom, that the number of readers of this site has been on the increase day by day. Upon return home from a 11-day visit to the States recently, the first thing I did was into the site. Looking forward to getting in touch with you and your readers, I would also appreciate your efforts.

Gentlemen,
Excellent site. Many interesting & informative pages & links. I'm a high school history teacher & I've used a link to download Stephen Halbrook's law review piece on the Second Ammendment. It is perfect for both world & U.S. history as a guide to primary sources on the much (purposely) misunderstood topic. As a long range shooter (.300 Win mag.) some of the info in your site is useful in the field. Also, as a former (15 yr.) member of the National Ski Patrol -XC patroller- who has trained ROTC cadets in winter survival, both classroom & in the field on tactical exercises, I have a better than average understanding of spec ops conditions that are less than ideal & can better appreciate their mission as depicted here.
Regards, Eric B.

Your site is the best that I've seen in a long time. It is very informative and lots of great pictures. Myself being in the Navy can relate to all of your info from your site. I use some of the info from your site in tactics for Airsoft adventure gaming and love all the ideas that you post on your site. I a few questions: Will you have detailed pictures of hand signals, pictures of units uniforms, map reading or orienteering etc. Please let me know when you get the chance. HOOYAAHH!!

I also know that you have NEVER EVER had any formal training from any agency on international child recovery.
